Sunil Narine (9.5 credits)
Sunil Narine didn’t have the best start to the IPL this year. He was not able to contribute anything with the bat. He scored only 24 runs in 3 matches and struggled against quality pace bowlers match after match. He is unlikely to be able to do anything with the bat in this match either, with the likes of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada in the opposing side.
While he didn’t do too badly with the ball, he didn’t extract much turn or deceive the batsmen with 2 wickets in 3 matches. He might struggle to contain the batsmen too, with the extremely small pitch. Therefore, it is possible to exclude Sunil Narine from your line up for this match.
Kuldeep Yadav (8.5 credits)
The downfall of Kuldeep Yadav was inexplicable. He has looked down and out in the last 18 months or so since making a fantastic start to his career. He has lacked confidence, and batsmen seem to have figured out how to play him.
He bowled just 54 balls in 3 matches this year and picked up a single wicket, that of a tailender, too. The fact that Kuldeep Yadav wasn’t introduced in the last match until the 16th over, despite the opposition team losing half their side in the first few overs, shows the lack of confidence in Kuldeep Yadav by Captain Karthik. Sharjah is certainly not the best place for Kuldeep Yadav to find form and therefore should not be included in your team.
Axar Patel (8.5 credits)
So far, Axar Patel had a good season, picking 2 wickets in 3 matches at an outstanding economy of less than 5. Skipper Shreyas Iyer, however, was reluctant to use him against the left-handed David Warner in the last match and did not put him into the attack until he was dismissed.
Shreyas Iyer could be even more reluctant to use Axar Patel with Kolkata Knight Riders having three quality left-handed batsmen in the top 6, and short boundaries to go along with it at the Sharjah. On top of that, Axar Patel couldn’t offer much with the bat either. In this match, you might opt for some other all-rounder who can provide more value.
