BBL Match Highlights: The Renegades shatters the dreams of the Hurricanes

Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades faced off in a close match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Tuesday afternoon, January 26 in the 55th match of the Big Bash League 2020/21 (BBL 10). Melbourne Renegades had a great 11-run victory over their opponent Hobart Hurricanes.

Hobart Hurricanes captain Matthew Wade won the flip-bat and elected to field, sending Melbourne Renegades to bat.

Batting first, Renegades scored 50 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the first 9 overs. After that depending upon the 5th wicket partnership of 63 runs, the Renegades threw a challenging target of 151 runs to the Hurricanes. Beau Webster (54) & Mackenzie Harvey (40) were the top performers with the bat for the Renegades and Riley Meredith (3-22) was the highest wicket for the Hurricanes.

In the second innings, Jacques Evans returned Matthew Wade to the dressing room before he got destructive who was in the form in the last match. After that, D’Arcy Short and Dawid Malan started to take hold of the match, but the Hurricanes got dropped out of the playoffs after losing wickets regularly in a great spell by Jac Evans. Dawid Malan (34) was the highest run-scorer for the Hurricanes and Jake Evans (5-33) was the highest wicket-taker for Renegades.

The victory of Melbourne Renegades ensured the playoffs for Brisbane Heat who was ranked 4th in the points table after the previous match. On the other hand, the Hobart Hurricanes finished at 6th position, and the Melbourne Renegades finished as the last team in the points table of this year’s Big Bash League 2020/21 (BBL 10).
