Virat Kohli’s team India beat England by 8 runs in a close match in the fourth T20I of the bilateral series in Ahmedabad.
India lost 8 wickets to score 185 runs in 20 overs while coming down to bat first after losing the toss. India came down to save the series and lost Rohit Sharma standing on 21 runs. Opener Lokesh Rahul (14) and captain Virat Kohli (1) couldn’t score well. Kohli was stumped after missing the line from a great googly off leg-spinner Adil Rashid’s googly. Even then, Suryakumar Yadav led India to put up a hefty total. He made 57 off 31 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. England was struggling from the beginning of the chase. At the end of 8 overs, England scored 60 runs losing 2 wickets. Jason Roy (40) was out in the ninth over. Johnny Bairstow and Ben Stokes then put on a great pairing to give England a great hope of victory. Later, the target in front of England was 55 off 31 balls when Bairstow (25) was dismissed by Rahul Chahar. Ben Stokes returned to the pavilion in the 17th over scoring 46 off 23 balls hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes and the match shifted towards India. In the end, Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan showed hope of victory and took the match to the last over. But England’s innings stopped 8 runs away from victory. Shardul Thakur was the highest wicket-taker for India (3-42, 4 overs).
India levels the 5-match series (2-2) by defeating England in this match. The last and final match of the series will be held tomorrow at the same venue.
