IPL 2021 Match 14 (Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Punjab Kings)

Sunrisers Hyderabad got their first triumph after losing three matches in a row. David Warners’ team beat Punjab Kings by 9 wickets in their fourth match in IPL 2021.

After winning the toss & electing to bat first at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Punjab was out for 120 runs. Punjab continued to lose wickets at regular intervals in the fiery spells of the Hyderabad bowlers. None of the batsmen of the Punjab team could settle down into the wickets. The highest 22 runs came from the bats of opener Mayank Agarwal and Shahrukh Khan. Among the Hyderabad bowlers, Khaleel Ahmed took 3 wickets for just conceding 21 runs in 4 overs. Abhishek Sharma took 2 wickets as well for the team.

In reply, Hyderabad got off to a flying start. The two openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow scored 73 runs in 10.1 overs in the opening partnership. Captain Warner made 36 off 36 balls and fell victim to Fabian Allen. However, Bairstow and Kane Williamson played the rest of the innings cautiously. With 3 fours and 3 sixes, Bairstow scored an unbeaten 63 off 56 balls. Williamson remained unbeaten on 16 runs.

After winning this match, Sunrisers Hyderabad has climbed up to the fifth position in the points table and the team with defeat, Punjab Kings are at the bottom of the table.

IPL 2021 Match 15 (Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders)

Kolkata Knight Riders lost by 18 runs chasing a massive target of 221 runs set by Chennai Super Kings, led by MS Dhoni. Kolkata faced Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday to avoid a hat-trick defeat after two consecutive losses. After losing the toss at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium and batting first, Chennai scored a mammoth total of 220 runs, losing only 3 wickets with the help of 2 great innings from two openers Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Faf scored 95 runs off 60 balls smashing 9 fours and 4 sixes, and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 64 runs off 42 balls in 6 fours and 4 sixes.

To avoid a hat-trick defeat, Kolkata went down to chase the mountain of runs and lost 5 wickets, scoring 31 runs. For Kolkata, Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell took the helm for the sixth wicket then. This pair added 81 runs. Andre Russell lost his wicket after being confused by Sam Curran’s ball while the team total was 112 runs. He scored 54 runs off just 22 balls before returning to the pavilion, hitting 3 fours and 6 sixes. Karthik (40) returned to the dressing room while the team total was 146 runs.

In the end, Kolkata’s star pacer Pat Cummins fought alone with the lower order batsmen. With his 4 fours and 6 sixes, he played a devastating inning of 66-runs facing just 34 balls and remained unbeaten. Kolkata managed to score 202 runs losing all of their wickets in 19.1 overs.

Chennai Super Kings have moved up to the top of the points table with their third win in a row, and with a hat-trick defeat, Kolkata Knight Riders drop down to sixth place in the points table.
