PCB willing to host ICC CT 2025 & 2029; also expresses desire to host World Cups with their neighbors

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a press release that they want to host 6 ICC Men’s events in the next cycle, from 2024-2031. They are going to bid to host the 2025 and 2029 Champions Trophy alone while for the 2026 and 2028 T20 World Cups and the 2027 and 2031 ODI World Cups, it will make a joint bid along with any other Asian countries.

The PCB is confident that they can hold the prime eight-team ICC Champions Trophy on its own, at four available venues in Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore and Multan. The 2026 and 2028 T20 World Cups and the 2027 and 2031 ODI World Cups need 8 venues and 10 venues, respectively. So, they are seeking partnership with their neighbors, most probably co-hosts the events with Sri Lanka, UAE and Bangladesh, without India.

The ICC is now considering the applications of the PCB and other countries and will announce their decision before the 2nd phase of the event hosting process begins in September. PCB hopes to host at least one ICC tournament, which will be a huge inspiration for Pakistan cricket.

On the other hand, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief Nazmul Hasan has also expressed the board’s desire to co-host the ODI and T20 World Cups in the ICC’s 2024-2031 cycle with other Asian countries likewise PCB. He also talked about organizing the Champions Trophy of eight teams alone.
